Roll20 for Android

Roll20 for Android is a free-to-use set of digital tools optimized for pen-and-paper tabletop games. Take advantage of Roll20's powerful "QuantumRoll" dice engine, community-submitted roleplaying character sheets, visual handouts, text chat and more at your physical gaming table, or as a second screen with the online Roll20 Virtual Tabletop.

Roll20 for Android is best used during in-person play. Use it instead of a paper character sheet to go digital. For best results, have the GM use the Roll20 VTT on a laptop or other computer.

Be advised that currently the application must be used in conjunction with a campaign started via the free-to-use Roll20 Virtual Tabletop.

The Known Issues and feedback thread is available on Roll20's forums:

Android 4.4+

NOTE: This application is only recommended for Android tablets with a screen size of 7" or greater.

I really like Roll20 but this app is a huge disappointment. Notes say that it works best on a screen of 8\" or larger, but If you've got a device with this screen size you're better off just using the regular browser version. For smaller screens it's almost unusable and it can be really slow. Also doesn't seem to maintain persistence of connection, so if you skip to another app and the back to this one is loses what you were looking at. Amateurish - unprofessional

Honestly this app is nearly useless. The screen is incredibly small and cramped, and as other reviewers mention, it doesn't hold onto any information if you switch between screens, so you have to load all over again. The layout of the board and sheets are confusing, It's hard bordering on impossible to roll, and the screen is so cramped you can't see what your players rolled anyway. Not to mention how long the loading screens are. You're better off printing your sheets and using the web version.

The app is a flop for mobile. Can't do anything but roll and chat, any of the map functions don't work or even load most the time, have to log in every time you pull it up, and no, not even trying to go to the website on a mobile browser helps. Still can't do anything. Roll20 is great for pc only so far. Would love to see it if it ever get optimized for mobile, will make a lot of things easier for me since I'm often not able to be at my computer. Need a screen over 8\"? Just carry a notebook...

The app doesnt get any updates and the team shows no interest at all in updating it. Most people who use this are on their phone, that simply wont work well because it was designed and intended for tablets. It is better just to wait to get home and use a pc. Overall, this NEEDS major improvements.

well I would like to start by saying that the rolls 20 desktop site is amazing. this is unfortunately a long way away from that. you cannot interact with maps. you cannot as a DM create new handouts or character sheets. it is usefule but not nearly as good as it could be.

The Web page is blowing my mind but this app is just useless, no compendium support other then basic rules BTW in app compendium was written in the description so why isn't it working? (purchased like 8 campaigns and extra compendiums each for 49 bucks and can't even read them properly on my phone?) , map isn't working, all you can do is chat and role your dice, this could be soooo much more, please do something about this

Freeman Boyle

You can access games you are already a part of and edit characters as well as chat. You are unable to access the map as it always loads as a black screen, or edit any settings, and various parts of a character break if you try to do them on the app (as in no platform can fix them). Needs major work to fix these issues they blatantly say don't exist on the forums and subreddit both.

UI is just horrendous. There is great potential in porting Roll20 for mobile devices, but with this kind of service, I wonder whether or not the company is competent enough to develop this. There's also the issue of this not having been updated in a year.

Torrey Hamill

Login screen is just their mobile site but stretched out so far as to be unusable; I had to put my phone in landscape mode to be able to create an account. After logging in, there appear to be no accessible features unless you have been added by a GM to a game in session. I expected to be able to use the basic features like a character editor PRIOR to starting a campaign, but it looks like that's not an option.

Absolutely terrible. The only thing the app does is manage character sheets, and half the time it won't load them. When it does load them, you can't zoom, meaning the text of the sheet is too small to read.
